The Space Before
The Space Before
A small, closed-in kitchen separated from the living room by a load-bearing wall where the pendant lighting lives now. An external door sat where the extractor now is. The room felt tight and disconnected from the rest of the home. A space with potential, but a layout that was working against it.

The client came with a clear brief:
The client came with a clear brief:
Create an open-plan kitchen and living space. But the design needed the space to exist before it could be resolved.
Once the internal wall came down, we hosted a final site meeting.
Measuring the kitchen, functionally it worked but felt small in a big room. The living zone was oversized, and the space beside the peninsula seating was wasted.
One extra unit along the sink run rebalanced everything. The kitchen felt more generous. The living zone lost nothing it was using. A decision made standing in the room, not drawn from a screen.

The Design Strategy
The Design Strategy
Our clients started their journey wanting handless contemporary. Through sampling and iteration, the direction shifted to a bevelled shaker, still clean-lined, but with enough character to hold its own in a room this size.
The peninsula was deliberate. An island would have choked the circulation. The waterfall end gives it a finished, furniture-like quality.
Minimal wall units are what make the room feel its size. The splashback runs in the same quartz as the worktop, one continuous material that keeps the eye moving.
Herringbone floor runs through both zones. The oak slat media wall anchors the living area. Two zones, one room, nothing dividing them but intent.

The Build Detail
The Build Detail
The knock-through required structural steel to open the space.
From there, every element, kitchen, flooring, glazing, internal doors, media wall was designed and delivered as one coordinated build.
No separate trades working to separate briefs. One team, one programme, one standard.
